2024 was a year that tested our resilience in more ways than one. It was a year of highs and lows, triumphs and challenges, but most importantly, it was a year of learning, adapting, and growing. As we reflect on the year behind us, we’re filled with gratitude for the support of our community and excitement for what lies ahead in 2025. We are so thankful for donations and help from our friends over at Evermore Ranch who got us a much needed chainsaw, and our Lakeland friends who came and helped us get water from generators (that got scary fast!). We give a big thank you for Florida Food Finder who helped us get help to pump water to the animals. We don’t ask for help but the generosity of these folks to help us was so appreciated and will be remembered.
A Look Back at 2024
The year started strong with a phenomenal spring season. We fulfilled every preorder, watched our birds and farm flourish, and shared the joy of hatching season with so many of you. But nature had other plans in the later months of the year.
Two hurricanes hit us within just 10 days of each other—Hurricane Helene, which brought heavy rains and flooding, and Hurricane Milton, a devastating Category 3 storm that struck directly. Milton left behind destruction that will remain etched in our memories. We faced heartbreaking losses, both during and after the storm, and the rebuilding process has been slow and challenging.
But through it all, one thing has remained constant: our determination. Some may call it stubbornness; we call it grit. Even in the midst of devastation, we found ways to keep going, planting seeds of hope and renewal for the future of our farm.
Exciting Updates for 2025
Now, as we enter 2025, we’re more determined than ever to come back stronger. Here’s what’s new and exciting on the farm:
✅ New Lines Added
Our breeding program has expanded to include new bird lines, offering more variety and preserving rare and heritage genetics. These additions are a testament to our commitment to sustainable breeding practices and ensuring that unique, valuable lines continue to thrive.
✅ Welcoming New Animals
The Stellar Game Birds family is growing! We’re introducing new species and breeds to the farm, adding diversity and excitement to what we offer. Each new addition is carefully chosen to align with our mission of conservation and sustainability.
✅ Preserving Heritage Lines
Preservation has always been at the heart of what we do. In 2025, we’re doubling down on our efforts to grow and protect heritage and rare lines, ensuring these birds have a future in farming and homesteading.
✅ Expanding Beyond Birds
While birds remain our cornerstone, we’re expanding into other areas of sustainability. From growing vegetables and crops to offering nutritious food for both humans and pets, we’re creating a diversified farm that serves multiple needs. Think farm-to-table produce, fresh pet food options, and so much more!
✅ Improving Systems
We’ve updated our policies and streamlined operations to make it easier than ever for you to access our offerings. Whether you’re placing preorders, seeking educational resources, or exploring our farm-to-table products, our new systems are designed with you in mind.
Planting Seeds for the Future
Despite the challenges of 2024, we’ve planted seeds—literally and figuratively—that we know will flourish in 2025. From introducing new animals to expanding our farm’s offerings, every step we’ve taken is grounded in our love for sustainability, conservation, and community.
One of the most exciting updates is the relaunch of our blog and educational site. Sharing knowledge has always been a cornerstone of our mission, and we’re thrilled to once again provide resources to inspire and support fellow farmers, breeders, and homesteaders.
Another exciting update for 2025 is the release of our new ebook, launched in late December! Although it was set to launch in October, the hurricanes showed us that sometimes you can’t stay with the plan. This book is a comprehensive guide for poultry enthusiasts, covering everything from choosing the right incubator to troubleshooting hatches and improving hatch rates. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced breeder, this resource is designed to empower you with the tools and knowledge you need for success.
After facing delays due to the hurricane, this book represents so much more than just a project—it’s a testament to perseverance and our commitment to sharing what we’ve learned over the years. It is available now as a downloadable ebook.
